So whilst ‘classic’ line of form reading still has its place, the betting exchanges have changed everything forever and reading the market has become a fundamental part of any successful betting strategy.

Selective Betting Approach: One of the most powerful weapons we hold is choice. The bookmakers and exchanges are committed to offering prices on virtually every single sporting event, but there are undoubtedly horse racing frames, football matches and other sporting events which are less “bookmaker friendly” than others. So betting strategically involves being selective and keeping your powder dry until these opportunities arise in the ‘right kind’ of punter friendly races and sporting events.

Low-Risk Betting Strategies: My instincts are very defensive and ultra protective toward profits and I don’t believe that in order to make big profits that you must take big risks. Therefore many of the strategies I employ are very focused on NOT losing money. Limiting losses to me is almost as important as maximising profits. In fact it’s probably more important and by doing so you will always stay in a strong position.

Specialist Knowledge: Having specialist knowledge of certain sports is another key element to the long-term profits and overall success my members enjoy. The Turbo Hughie, The safety first place bet with an ‘in running’ lay: This recently introduced place bet includes the addition of an in running lay, turning the activities of the ‘in running’ traders to our advantage and enhancing our place betting profits.

The Ringmaster, The roll up place market bet: This potentially risk free place bet is played over several days with the target of hitting £100, having withdrawn the initial stake along the way.

“The Each Way Bets”

Each Way Thievery: These are one of my favourite bets... each-way doubles. Bookmakers despise these bets so much that they even have a name for people who use them "Each Way Thieves". Why is that? Well the main reason is that mathematically, the odds are in our favour as such as two 9/4 shots placing will provide a profit and solace as well. You see, arithmetically, each way doubles are a great bet for us and very BAD NEWS for the bookmaker. This is even more so, now it’s possible to "play the bookmaker" ourselves and actually "lay off" some of the bet, like a shrewd bookmaker would also do, via Betfair. Following this process through, we protect our profits, reduce any losses thus keeping our betting banks safe, because it’s important to take a little less in return for a guaranteed no lose situation. Remember we are not reckless gamblers here and "safety first" is the golden rule. And my members really appreciate how I jealously guard their profits and their betting banks... "The service provides consistent and steady profits that feel a lot less riskier than most other tipsters. I like the way Mike is disciplined all the time looking to always protect the bank and still make a profit." Andrew Watts, Gravesend, Kent Each day’s racing generally provides three separate each-way doubles - The Double Diamond, The Dunlop & The Ali Baba. All three have different targeted races.

The Double Diamond: The Double Diamond is generally used with 2 shorter priced horses in win singles and a mathematical each way double normally played ‘straight’ - win-to-win and place-to-place and would generally be regarded as the safest of the main bets.

The Dunlop: The Dunlop is more expansive and here I place 2 each way singles and an each way double generally on 2 horses priced above 9/4 very often played each way in an ‘equally divided’ fashion. The prices of selections in the Dunlop tend to be higher than with the Double Diamond which gives us the advantage that if one of the horses flops you can still make a profit on the other.

The Ali Baba: This is a ’Thieving’ bet normally played in each way singles and each way doubles and is similar to the Double Diamond but with lower stakes.

The Bernie and The Buzzer: To embrace days when I have 6 horses in the 3 bets above I may also play ‘The Bernie’ as a combination bet via multiple each way doubles. However if I can only find four opportunities, then I call the bet the 'Buzzer', to include just the four selections again in multiple each way doubles covering the 4 main selections.

The Van Heusen: The Van Heusen is generally comprised of each way cross doubles with 4 horses in a couple of races. These races are where there is normally a strong odds-on favourite and we are looking for the places - the online bookmakers don't like this type of bet so it is best to place it in cash with the shops if you can.

The Combos: Again played as each way doubles and trebles in combinations with some lesser ‘expected’ horses – which again are chosen as mathematically attractive bets for punters.

The Golden Goose:Two or three times a year The Golden Goose Bet comes out and allows us a guaranteed profit on a race whatever the result. It’s a purely mathematical formula based bet, but because of the early ‘Best Odds Guaranteed’ prices offered by bookmakers we already know the profit before the race. A small profit is assured if the horse finishes unplaced and a bigger profit if wins. Hence the name ‘The Golden Goose’.

“Horse Racing Trading Bets”

The Trading side of Big Mike Betting introduces some groundbreaking and innovative trades, which can be made via Betfair and will produce enough profit alone to cover subscriptions for members.

The Axminster: An In-running blanket or carpet lay (hence the name) played via the Betfair ‘keep’ option or with some betting assistant software. With this bet I am trying to find races where many horses will be matched at a certain level in running. There is very little downside on these trades.

The Dead Man’s Handle: Similar to the Carpet Lay (Axminster above). This time members are advised to cancel all the other lays in running as soon as the first horse is matched. I then advise placing a ‘back’ bet in running for a tiny stake to obtain any upswing during the race. Many a time the upswing bet is taken and yet the horse goes on to win so It’s a useful ploy.

The Mule Train: This is a roll up place lay bet, where I find a terrible race being contested by lots of Mule’s. Normally a selling race. This place lay bet is made on several horses all to the same liability. Provided less than two make the frame we collect our profit. However in the unlikely event of just one Mule placing our potential loss is reduced through having all the other mules on our side.

The Greenhouse: This is a bet where in certain circumstances I will take on and lay a clear favourite before a race and then place back bets in the Betfair ‘keep’ to be matched during the race. The idea is to automatically ‘green up’ whatever the result during the race.

The Nobby: This bet is almost the reverse of the Greenhouse bet (above) where a horse is selected to bet then lay back in running. Again the object of the exercise is to ‘green up’ in-running whatever the result.

The Prudence: When the right circumstances arise in eight plus runner races I use ‘The Prudence’ bet where I will be laying – ‘in running’ – maybe three or four in the betting market only - leaving the other horses to run for me.

“The Sports Bets And Trades”

Here I play a double result bet by backing BOTH teams (plus the Handicap tie) with different starts given by the Bookmaker. It’s a typically low downside bet and should the match be televised there are further options to bet ‘in play’ via bookmakers such as bet365 & Stan James to make the match even more attractive for punting.

The Lemming Method: You know what lemmings are right? They’re the creatures that follow each other mindlessly and eventually jump off a cliff to their certain deaths all without really knowing why. Well with this fantastic trading technique we harness the power of the ‘Betfair Lemmings’ to guarantee a profit whatever the result in certain sporting events by trading the inevitable market swings. It involves setting in-running mines (lays) and pegs (back bets) and then waiting for the lemmings as they helplessly walk into our traps, exploding our mines and pegs and turning our Betfair screens green with profit. Once exploded, we just reset the mines and pegs and wait for the lemmings again. It’s an excellent method; simple, profitable and we have never had it so good!

The Lazy Man’s Method: This is a simplified version of the Lemming Method and is a trade we play in ‘tight’ matches where you see two teams or players both trading at around even money. We set ‘in-running’ lays at lower levels on BOTH opponents and then just lazily sit back and let the huge market swings cause our bets to get matched, turning our screens green in the process.

The Pyramid Method: This is a mathematical trade I use to trade knock out sports tournaments such as The Embassy Snooker, Wimbledon, The Open, The PDC Darts Championship, the FA Cup and World Cup etc. Pre tournament I take positions by betting on teams or players on the outright market who are then profitably traded during the tournament using the Outright as a buffer.

The Shaunee: This is a Half Time – Draw/Full Time Banker Trading Bet based around the teams in the top European leagues and is played via a Lucky 15 over the weekend’s matches. The banker selection should always win the match, but hopefully the lesser team can spoil the party for 45 minutes.
